When we talk about filmmaking, we’re talking about a complex bunch of activities that, binded all together, form the structure of a movie. The aim of what i do with ONA Academy is trying to dissect this pile of different things, from theoretical concepts to the practical realizations, to find with the students the heart of the matter of this thing that we call “filmmaking”.
The world is bursting with stories that are desperate for an outlet. This is why projects like the ONA Academy are a necessity. A new wave of journalists and filmmakers with outstanding technical skills, a strong intercultural awareness and a desire to be professional is paramount. What a better place to do this, but in Egypt, where so many changes are taking place?
I find the ONA Academy an ambitious project for all those who are interested in learning about TV journalism and production in the Arab world. Young and promising Arabs wishing to take part in communicating news are in dire need of an entity with expertise in Arab media to put them on the right track, especially now with the dramatic changes we are witnessing on the political front. To me, the ONA Academy is definitely a vital step towards the ultimate goal for a respected and free-minded society.
ONA Academy is your gateway into the exciting world of media. There is broad range of classes tailored for the needs of those who are just entering the industry as well as opportunities for professionals to explore other avenues of interaction with their audiences. There are wonderful tutors that will inspire you and challenge your perceptions of reality and media landscape and help you to find your own voice. I feel sure that with determination, skills acquired on the courses and old good charm you will be able to reach your professional goals.
ONA Academy is a place where you can develop your skills and deepen your insights towards becoming a professional journalist. This program will give the you opportunity to have practical experience in different fields of Journalism and Media while working along with professionals.
It\’s our next big challenge; ONA Academy, the realm where we all who carried the responsibility to present ON TV and ON Live to audiences across our beloved Egypt, the Middle East and the globe have lead it to its tremendous success.
We continue to challenge ourselves and be responsible to guide and assist people who are keen on becoming successful journalists committed to high standards, values and discipline.
In a nutshell: We are not going to feed you a fish, but we\’ll teach you how to fish.
Why ONA Academy? The answer could seems simple or predictable. To train young journalist to have better journalistic skills. True, but also it is shooting from the need to follow the changes that occurring in Egypt and the region since the start of the Arab uprisings. Journalism since, started to face new challenges. The classical journalistic basics, as we knew it, appeared to be not enough in the time of struggle where governments withhold information and cut communication means and use it as a weapon against those who are opposing it\’s policies.
Today, Egypt and the countries of the “Arab Spring” are probably expected to set a new example not just in the Arab world and I\’m not exaggerating if I say the whole World. New example in revolutions and delivering freedom. Journalism is one of the main battles right now. Who win it, could easily resolve the outcome to their Favour. Here comes ONA Academy to take a pioneer role in establishing a new editorial line in journalism, depending on the capabilities of the young and their enthusiasm towards new radical methods to fulfil the need to know, explore and make a difference.
It looks great. Anything to train journalists in the Arab world in the right way to do things is great.
It will be a good bridge between Arab world and The western one .
ONA Academy will help you to understand and develop all stages of journalism and more. The theory and practice will be useful in your professional life. This is a great choice for starting your career in Journalism.
I think that you have to go forward in this project, and I feel that with a group like yours Egypt and the Arab media in general will benefit they free media in our region, and I push you to be more balanced and a partial journalists as you I know you, you have just to report the event, because having an impact on it as a journalist is another dimension that never means if you are free or not.
I think the ONA Academy is one of the most important projects for journalism for Egypt and the Arab World. It\’s a milestone for TV journalism in the region and a milestone for Egypt on it\’s way to an open and free society.

It was a great experience joining the Documentary Film Making @ ONA academy. Working with Saverio as an assistant camira, production, location suggestion, evaluation and selection, interviewing characters gave me a good exposure and priceless experience.
Currently I’m interested in some scenario and script writing and production / post production activities.

ONA academy’s experience according to me was a very successful one,I had the chance to try practically more than once to be a talk-show presenter, and what’s amazing about the course is that u don’t only get trained on how to be a talk-show presenter but u study beyond that in order if you one day would be a presenter you would understand how work is done around you,,in addition to the friendly environment in the academy you would find people working on your comfort and benefit,so I finally could say it was one successful experience to me.
I have taken the News Producer training course and it was a new experience to me. I was pleasantly surprised with the level of education training that was provided by ONA Academy. The Middle East and North Africa region is in great need of a high standards professional journalism education and training, and ONA Academy is a step in the right direction. Thank you ONA Academy.
ONA Academy sets itself as the Arab World pioneer in granting a hands-on experience to young talents by a group of experts and a collegial environment to bring about a new generation of media makers. As a former candidate, it was a one-of-a-kind opportunity for media passionates like me to become among the new and fresh VOICES that need to engage a fast-changing audience while driving the fiercely competitive broadcasting industry.
